Natural Beeswax

Beeswax is used for many purposes. It assists to form a barrier to the elements, it carries a range of nutrients that will be absorbed into the durface allowing rehydration and nourishment of the cells. The hoof of a horse benefits greatly from products that contain this wax combined with specially selected other plant waxes and natural oils high in specific vitamins.

The many uses of Beeswax

Beeswax is exuded in small amounts from the glands situated on the abdomen of bees. It is used to create honeycomb that stores the collected honey and protects the young bees.

It has been used in cosmetics since before Queen Cleopatra’s time, (first recorded of its use) Reasons for use in cosmetics:

• Easily incorporated in water and oil emulsions

• Excellent emollient and support for moisturisers

• Provides skin protective

• The elasticity and plasticity improve product efficency by allowing thinner films

• Provides greater performance on skin and lip surfaces by staying longer on a surface

Beeswax - frequently used in:

• cleansing creams

• cold creams and lotions

• emollient and barrier creams

• depilatories

• lipsticks - protective sticks in general

• nail creams

• sun protection products

• eye and face make up

• foundation creams

Used in Donnybrook Hoof Care Products as it assists to relieve dryness, acts as a moisturiser in cracks and assists to bond the damaged areas back together. Has a unique ability to protect against harsh conditions.

Contains propolis – Propolis is an excretion from the bees mouth and is coated on the wax when making the honeycomb. It creates a wax with very effective protective properties to fight disease. The wax is a biologically active product retaining anti-bacterial properties. Also containing has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties contained in the compounds called flavonoids.

It contains Vitamin A which is essential for normal cell development – hoof growth. Improves the stability of the hoof product and stays on longer allowing the product to absorb in longer and protect the surface against the elements for extended periods. When applied, creates a soft, shiny surface.
