Crack Repair of Hoof and Horns
Cracks occur in the hoof due to the keratin wall being placed under stress. The hoof wall is made up of keratin cells that bond together to form tubules. These tubules bond together to form the hoof wall. The stress is as a result of the hoof being exposed to a range of environmental conditions that deplete the moisture and nutrients from the cells.
• The cells dry out and the membrane degrades, weakening the bonds that hold each together
• As moisture moves through the wall, not only water leaves the cells, but also trace elements
• As moisture moves back in, it also takes in soluble impurities with it.
Abscesses occur by an infection, usually bacteria or other foreign material, entering the area. If the hoof wall is not strong enough to fight the intrusion and infection occurs. This is the bodies way of minimising the infection growing. This can be reduced by improving the hoof wall structure and allowing the hoof to do its job.
How to Minimise the Symptoms
Cracks and abscesses are symptoms of an underlying deficiency in the protective hoof wall. Cracks demonstrate that the cells are depleted and require the application of nutrients topically that are easily absorbed. A combination of plant oils that are high in omega 3, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Phenols, Oleocathal, Squalene (and much more), combined with a natural wax will assist in improving the cell structure.
Crack Repair is developed to contain 8 specific extra virgin plant oils combined with a natural wax to ensure that the cells get what is required for your specific needs.

Recommended Usage
Apply regularly for the first few days, only applying a thin film to the whole hoof. Allow the horse to stand for a period of time before releasing into a paddock. This gives the hoof a period of time to be absorbed.
Then apply 2 or 3 times a week. Or as needed when dryness starts to appear in the hoof cells.
