Directions - Hoof Moisturiser

Ensure the hoof is dry or damp but not wet, the moisturiser will absorb into the keratin wall more readily, creating a better environment for re-hydration. A wet hoof causes the moisturiser to sit on the surface and takes longer to be absorbed. The longer it sits on the outside, the more chance there is of it being rubbed off.

• With a small brush (small clean paint brush is suitable), apply a thin coat over the hoof including the frog, sole and heel.

• Pay attention to on and slightly above the coronet band, working the conditioner into this area gently with the brush or your fingers.

Normal application

• Apply 3 times a week to the hoof. Even in dry conditions this is still enough. This is because the moisturiser readily absorbs and stays in the hoof wall, (at cellular level) for an extended period of time, creating a protective barrier to the elements.

• Apply once a week to the frog and sole. Too much may cause the area to become too soft.

Direction for Donnybrook Crack Repair on Damaged Hoof

• In the first week apply 3 to 5 times to the hoof then back to a normal application.

Badly Damaged Hoof

• Apply the same way as the Hoof Moisturiser

• Apply more often for the first couple of weeks and continually assess the hoof condition.

• Adjust back to normal application when applicable. When the hoof appears to be supple. The crack will eventually repair itself.

• Crack Repair is successful on very dried and cracked hooves.

• Bad slits will close but the separation, if from the bottom to the coronet (or less), will need to grow out. It is important that once the split has initially ‘closed’ back that normal application applies to keep the new growth solid.

Crack Repair does not repair genetic faults or permanent damage caused at the coronet band, but it will reduce the impact of the fault. It assists in the regrowth of a strong and healthy hoof.

• Adheres to the hoof for longer periods as the absorption is far superior than most other oils

Why this Blend of Oils Works

The reason that this blend of oils works so well, is that it does not stay on the surface like most other hoof oil ingredients. The oils used all quickly absorb, creating a surface that grows stronger, more supple, solid and overall healthier. Within a few days of application, you will see a healthier appearance. The seriously damaged areas will take a bit longer.

A moisturiser is designed to perform 2 functions. The first is to form a barrier against the elements and the second is to nourish and rehydrate the cells at the local level.

The ingredients are not refined or from animal products (excluding bee products) and do not tend to breakdown as easily. This leaves the most available antioxidants in the oil, to do the moisturizing, repair and preventative applications.

Works on horses that are

• Stabled

• Heavily in work

• In hot, dry, sandy conditions

• In wet, boggy conditions.

You only need to apply a minimal amount as the lotion being non processed is full of active anti-oxidants. Once the oils have been absorbed and the hoof has enough, it will not absorb anymore. Therefore applying extra is only a waste.
